PT2201 is a highly integrated current mode PWM controller. It targets at providing low standby power, low EMI and cost effective system solution for flyback converter applications. PWM switching frequency at normal operation is externally programmable and trimmed to tight range. At no load or light load condition, the IC operates in extended ‘burst mode’ to minimize switching loss. Low standby power and higher conversion efficiency is thus achieved. The low VDD startup current will also contribute to low standby power. The internal LEB on the current sense input removes the signal glitch due to snubber circuit diode reverse recovery and will greatly reduces the external component count and system cost in the design.
PT2201 offers complete protection coverage with cycle-by-cycle current limiting (OCP), over load protection (OLP), over temperature protection (OTP), VDD over voltage protection (OVP) and under voltage lockout (UVLO). The gate drive output is clamped at 18V to protect the power MOSFET. The tone energy in the voice band (<20kHz) will be minimized by limiting the burst mode frequency to above 22kHz. This will eliminate the potential audible noise while the system is under light or no load conditions.
The PT2201 is available in 8-pin DIP and SOP packages.
